Borderlands Review: The Skag Zone

“Skags are large, dog-like creatures, easily identified by their strong bony armor plates, aggressive behavior, and distinctive three-jawed mouths”

Wikipedia.

Ready, Aim, RUN!

Who shall be crowned king of the Skags?
The obvious recipient of this crown would seem to be Skagzilla by default. Due to his sheer size and strength, this leviathan makes for a devastating enemy, but what about the others?
Marley and Moe for starters are enough to give anyone a run for their money, and the infamous Skag gully is home to some truly formidable creatures indeed. Scar leads the pack atop a ridge in Skag gulley. Master of all he surveys, that is until you arrive! After that, his little kingdom goes through a period of serious remodeling!

"HAVE IT" Says Mordecai

Pinky and Digit are Nine toes pet skags. They’re loyalty to their master is second only to their hunger for your meat!
To be honest though, these two are more of a nuisance than any real threat, as taking them down is relatively easy, as is taking out Nine Toes.

It has to be said that the corrosive Alpha Skags can often be some of the toughest enemies. Particularly when there’s more than one of them. Skags tend to attack all at once, frenzied by your presence, and single minded in their intention to find out just what you look like on the inside!

Absolute nutters, they come later.

One of the cuter features of the original game has to be Earl’s best friend. A tiny skag whelp with a circular saw blade for a collar. It would seem from the carnage in the arena that Earl’s best friend is a bit of a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Locked in a secure cage, and surrounded by the remains of man and beast alike, his bite is most definitely worse than his bark!

Another contestant for the crown has to be Scrappy,(All grown up!) This monster is definitely a leap forwards in the evolutionary chain, and the fight he puts up makes Pinky and Digit look like a pair of frightened Meerkats! With his over-sized overbite, and demonic claws, Scrappy is indeed a force to be reckoned with!

The title holder, and potential King of Skags, is entirely up to you! In three weeks we will collate all the comments and declare the winner who will be Crowned The King of all Skags!

The Mighty Skagzilla

Borderlands Review: Eyes on BRICK

The giant leviathan who is Brick gives Borderlands it’s edge of power, muscle and sheer anarchistic rage!

Brick is the epitome of juggernaut sized psychosis when in berserk mode. His fist are as powerful as any gun, say the in game blurbs, and they’re right! His special skill is his berserk rage, and for the length of time it can last, due to his skill points,  makes him a formidable enemy indeed.

Having played Brick through the first 3 play throughs, I was massively impressed by his weapon proficiencies, the awesome mods which give him the ability to have unlimited rockets, explosive proficiencies and many, many more make gaming with Brick as your chosen character, an action packed experience indeed. He also adds a maniacal comedy element to the game with his berserker rage, as he shouts and bellows fit to shake the ground, whilst pummelling his foes with those massive fists of his!

Bricks impressive physical prowess is vastly enhanced by the unimaginably huge array of weapons the Gearbox folks have provided with their phenomenal artificial intelligence weapons generator! To date the engine has created over 27’000’000 different weapons!

The game itself never ceases to amuse as with each level up, the characters adjust to be just that little bit more difficult.
The more players, the harder the enemies, and the better the the loot. Just like it says in the game.

The original game alone gives endless hours of game play, running into the realm of months of enjoyment. Couple that with at least four new add on game plays which go above and beyond to bring huge maps and epic new regions to an already grand design, and you have one of the biggest and best first person shooters available on the market today.

With an almost infinite amount of modding possibilities per character, a weapons inventory bordering on the insane, and an array of enemies and creatures to rival Jim Henson’s workshop, Borderlands is fast turning into a cult classic.

An absolute must have on any gamers keep list!

Borderlands The Intro – Reviews Coming Soon

This article begins a series of reviews dedicated to the immense and beloved game. BORDERLANDS

I’ve spent a long time playing this game, many months of enjoyment, and for the whole time I have been thinking about the moment when I actually review the game.

This game re-ignited my excitement for the gaming world.

It is fundamentally a different kind of game. It was a little difficult for the makers to decide on a “genre” to release it into. I understand! It’s hard to be specific about what this game actually is.

Mathematically it is impressive. The gun generating AI was embraced with open arms by the lucky gamers who gave the game a chance. There are currently more than 27,000,000,000 guns generated, that’s based on the accumulated number of every gun, from every play, from every player, ever!

At first when you start the game and roam around the landscape, it can seem so vast and limitless that, put it this way:

I heard of a handful of people who bought the game, gave it a go for a few hours, and ended up returning the game!

To that I say… never mind.

I have my Lilith Character at level 69, and now I am free to roam and farm with my friend’s characters, we are currently building level 69s in doubles of all characters for some serious multiplayer benefits (rare items multipliers) and things like full map spread domination attacks (shortest time to complete levels etc…)

Don’t even get me started on the multiple vehicle races & stunts.

This game is so packed with experiences “worth talking about” I would encourage you to subscribe to our feed as there is much more to come!

Reviews will stretch far and wide, but we can say we will be looking at specifics like “The Skags”, “The Spiderants”, “Farming”, “Rarity Multipliers”, Crawmerax, General Knoxx, The DLCS, the list really is endless!
