Boot Sequence Adjustment in HP iLO
This document explains the process to change the boot sequence using iLO (integrated Lights Out) via TELNET.
You may well need to have an iLO Advanced license key installed, a trial key can be obtained here - http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/servers/management/tryinsightcontrol/index.html
First, a TELNET session needs to be established, TELNET needs to be enabled in the iLO management interface.
The following list is how iLO sorts the devices into IDs.
For clarity – (BootFm** = Boot from **)
BootFmCd : bootsource1
BootFmFloppy : bootsource2
BootFmDrive : bootsource3
BootFmUSBKey : bootsource4
BootFmNetwork : bootsource5
What we will do is navigate to where the changes need to be made, check the boot order, then change it.
NAVIGATE
The easiest method I have found to change directory to bootconfig1 as follows:
cd system1
cd bootconfig1
CHECK ORDER
At this point you can check the order of each individual boot source as follows.
show bootsource1
show bootsource2…
You will get a return of where the boot source is currently in the boot order, WRITE THEM DOWN.
CHANGE ORDER
If you need to adjust more than one, do them one at a time.
The syntax is as follows:
set bootsource* bootorder=*
The good news is you will get a detailed order list once this is done, as below.
Good Luck.
