Introducing…Inspiring talent! Part 2

Monday, October 3rd, 2011

If there’s one thing I love most about music and since becoming an Fm radio DJ Host; its meeting great artist with a fantastic message in their music as well as drive and aspiration. It’s very admirable to see that despite the world’s corruptions and oppression, there are STILL dedicated positive, active, creative artist that take full responsibility in their role in society.

They have the maturity to understand and recognise just how important their role as a musician is and the high influence they have on young people who listen and follow them in their music journey and how do I know this? Because I have had the pleasure, to pick the brains of all three here artist. Interviewing each of them finding out the truth behind their music. Meet the following artists….

Nick Javas

Nick Javas pleasantly dropped in my yahoo inbox about a month ago which was a huge surprise to me, seeing as he came all the way from New Jersey and managed to have learnt about my show all the way across seas’ in little old Bedford town.

Not only a hottie Italian stallion but also his flow and lyrical content is very much to my liking too.

What lit up my enthusiasm for this artist was how dedicated he seemed and positive about hip hop and it’s message. Nick has the kind of flow that makes you want to hear more and his conscious demeanor set a pace that is just timeless.

Understanding that music has a high role in being a kind of hypnosis in which lyrics and image do play a massive role in kids lives, Nick is very aware of the kind of music that he wants to put out there and also sticks to what true hip hop is all about. The impression I got from interviewing Nick Javas was that he despises the “bling” commercial scene and calls it “selfish” and we talked about artist not being aware of the impression they and particularly rappers leave (check out Material girl on youtube) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nNGQiHAKn9s  with those who listen to it and its strong influence on the attitude of today’s society and its values.

Nick’s music is inspiring in that the messages are generally positive and clear straight to the point with metaphoric clever rhyme wording and some humour.

With his mixtape entitled, Detour, which dropped May 27th, the New Jersey native is another young star that is making his dreams reality! Hard Work, dedication and commitment are just a few of the characteristics that describe Nick, and passion is a key element in his formula for success. “When I finished college, I just went into the studio hard! I started doing shows and when I felt like I had a strong demo, with me Being out in New York, I made sure that I was at all of the industry events. I eventually ran into DJ Premiere, who took a liking to me and my music. He was starting a new record label called Year Round Records at the time, and that’s where it all Began”.  Nick admits, however, that music was not his first love. “I have always Been a hip hop fan but not necessarily a hip hop artist.  When my athletic career was cut short due to a knee injury, I found my new sport, which is writing. This was my new passion, which Became a hip hop career.”  And what a career it is turning in to be!

Outside of blazing the stage, Javas’ writing skills paid off when he was asked to perform his rhymes for the NFL.  “I started this week one of the 2010 NFL season. What I did was I wrote a rhyme every Sunday night, recapping the highlights of the game.  It would be a lyrical highlight rhyme that I would put together over night and make a video with it.  I would drop it every Monday by 8am. This got the attention of ESPN, who aired one of my episodes on Sports Nation. The NFL reached out to me, and my episodes got played at all the playoff games. I got to work with guys like Big Boi B.o.B, Lupe Fiasco, Talib Kweli, and Snoop Dogg to bring this project together.”

I’m Back!!

Sunday, September 4th, 2011

Hey all!

It feels like forever since I last sat down to write a blog and share with you all my thoughts, feelings and updates. After taking six week’s holiday, from my professional career in education (my day job). Yes I have a day job, aside from pursuing my dream ultimate career in the music industry as an artist and entrepreneur. Out of all of the weeks this is the first week that I can truly say is a holiday for me lol.

For those that say you have to sacrifice and put everything into music i.e. no job, on the music grind 24/7, collecting off the government, sorry to say but this is by far not practical or fulfilling and does not guarantee you success to what you have been aiming for. Those that tend to say this is THE way; the only way and shun people who choose to support themselves whilst pursuing their music career are normally disparately seeking approval feeling at times defeated and anxious with no certainty of stability.

You may even be thinking how can I make comments so freely on this matter how could I possibly sit comfortably and make such assumptions? Well it’s because I myself have been there, done that, worn the t-shirt so to say and been around, amongst and conversed with those who have done just that. Collecting off the government (signing on) and then been on the super disparate grind of waking up, living, breathing and eating music, as there not being very much to eat at times, whilst perhaps trying to hold down semi part- time job has only made me depressed anxious cynical towards life, has indeed not brought me any closer to success and achieving my main aim. Some may argue and say but this makes you a hungrier and highly motivated person, however I am sorry to say I would have to disagree on this notion. For while you may experience these very feelings of hunger and grind you can only truly earn more capitol once you have money to begin with, money brings more money and anything else is just a fantasy and wishful thinking. I tried that life for a good 3 years and while I had some pleasant experiences I also had a lot of unnecessary hardship and longing. Not only that but my mind was closed, there was no room for growth and creative development to find opportunities and see ways of gaining as I was caught up on surviving.

I have found that by having a stable profession that brings in sufficient funds I have been able to get back good quality of living to be able to live and enjoy life rather than simply existing and make doing. In return my mind was able to be completely freely open and to see things that others were unable to see, for their eyes had become blinded by the desperation and clutching at strings.

There is I am sad to say no true recipe or formulae that fits all. Each person has their own path, their own way but what I do know is, struggling thinking that if I just get up and live music, do only music, do not go to work, do not socialize, do not give up some of my time and sacrifice in order to achieve long term. That if I suffer now and do not choose a good quality of life that somehow one day that magical break will come and I will be happy and have everything I want. Sorry to burst all bubbles but this is far from the case. The truth is you have to live NOW; you have be happy right now!! You have to make your life right now!! The pursuit of happiness is to find happiness in EVERYTHING that you do along the way along your route to success. There are too many diseases, illness misfortunes prone to all of us that can strike us down unexpectedly at any one time before we get what we truly want desire or deserve for us to make do for now. Who is to say that once you get there after going without and not find quality of life that you will be automatically happy and satisfied? Who knows if you will even be able to define that you have reached your ultimate. If to not work then find ways of earning a good living to support yourself that you can do all you need to maintain and sustain in the music business.

Well that was a rant if ever I made one lol however after not having my laptop for a good week and a half I have realized how much I if not many of us rely on modern advance technology to communicate and to make things possible.

I am thoroughly chuffed that I was able to rescue my laptop and revive it so that it is running like new and even better than before whilst rescuing all my saved files I have forcefully become a true techy and have this natural knack of finding solutions to problems so holler me lol I will say that I did ask some assistance but they all told me what I already knew and what I had already tried, thanks to my friend and radio boss Mark, he was able to hook me up with the necessary cables to back up my drive but I repeat I did this all by myself disabled my laptop got the screw driver out took out my hardrive then reinstalled all the drives and operating systems hahaaa listen to me ”NERD” well I missed my baby (Dell Insipron) but I will tell you I will not hesitate to a Apple Mac as my birthday or Christmas present. I shall be coming with a follow up blog as I still haven’t even gotten into the nitty gritty of what I have been up to and suppose to blog about however call this a pre blog and taster to say Renae Rain is back and on the writing scene ;-)

To be continued…..

Finding Connections

Wednesday, July 6th, 2011

Hey wuddup!
How have you all been lately? Getting out there and making it happen I hope. Good.

You know I'm really beginning to love this radio DJ life style I've created for myself.
Over the time of starting up my own radio show on Kbitradio my life has changed for the
greater good. Most importantly, it's something as a child growing up that I've always
wanted to do. Since having the vision and seeing it happen I know and believe that the
power of vision is real and that we as humans do not fathom our own innate powers
(some of us) hmm what a shame...

So anyhow now I play FM which also broadcasts on the internet too so I'm local,
national and international and I like that!

We have to grab a hold of life with both hands and sit around for no one.

So now I'm building my alliances and they are strong, clever minded and like minded
people we're gonna make it happen with good health, so watch this space! Grabbing life
by the nuts and saying "come on, here I am!".

Stay connected to the universe it's most important; more about that in my next blog.

Check me out on intobeats 106.5 FM every Saturday from 2-4pm or www.intobeats.com
check out my podcast on kbitradio.com for the SRT Show.

One Love peace x
